With the technical knowledge, attained during the development process of the Murrini series, it became possible to create a diverse palette of fields and structures. Lintzen’s fascination for order and fields comes from her love for beautiful fabrics, textile and textural arts. When researching fields and patterns she came across lacework. ‘Making patterns is something universal; it has been done for millennia. In Europe bobbin lace developed rapidly with the rise of the bourgeoisie in the 16th century. There is a reorganization of power and citizens are given a greater say. Old structures change and lace is becoming popular. For me the bobbin lace cushion is a beautiful object and I wanted to transform it into glass.’
